The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has said that the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Adebiyi Daramola and the Bursar, Emmanuel Oresegun, have nothing to fear and that their integrity is intact.
This comes after the arrest of the Vice-Chancellor and bursar by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Adegbenro Adebanjo, the varsity said that Professor Daramola was not arrested, but he was rather invited by the commission over issues concerning his headship of the institution.
The statement read, “As part of its statutory responsibilities, the EFCC invited the Vice-Chancellor to provide clarification over issues relating to his stewardship.
“The Vice-Chancellor, as a law abiding citizen, duly honoured the invitation and is co-operating with the commission to provide the needed clarification and he was allowed to return to Akure on Wednesday.
“The Vice-Chancellor has maintained that he has no fear or hindrance in rendering the report of his stewardship whenever he is called upon to do so officially or unofficially since he has nothing to hide.”
The operatives of the anti-graft commission on Wednesday reportedly stormed the offices of the VC and the bursar of FUTA and took them to their Ibadan office.
The two FUTA bosses were said to have been quizzed by the commission following allegations of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds.
