The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has expressed concern over the possibility of a more serious quake in the future.
The agency’s Director for Geodesy and Geo dynamics, Tahir Yakubu, told journalists at a press conference in Abuja that the tremors that happened in September in Kaduna state indicate a potential for a greater quake in the future.
He emphasized the urgent need to equip the agency with materials that will enable it monitor seismic activities in the area ahead of time.
The National Space Research and Development Agency had in September, attributed the tremor in Jama Local Government Area of Kaduna State to passive sources.
There have been reports of earth tremors at Kwoi community in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
After the first incident in Kwoi community, the Kaduna state government had appealed to the people of the community to be calm but the occurrence of the second earth tremor, which occurred at Sambang Dagi community barely 24 hours later, also in Jaba left residents terrified.
The second vibration occurred in the early hours of the morning, left residents scampering for safety while the third increased the fears of the people.
However, authorities have asked for calmness.
